How The Erection Came To Be
In the bitter winter of January 2005, five schoolboys, disillusioned with life and the empty promises it held for them, set off into the woods armed with only an arsenal of plastic swords and a digital video camera. The end product of this spontaneous and frankly rather suspicious excursion was a feature film which turned out to be quite amusing indeed.
The aforementioned boys consequently formed a fearsome comedy collective, giving themselves the name Politically Erect Comedy (Before discovering that ‘Politically Erect’ was also the name of a Sex and the City episode.)
Politically Erect chose to focus on sketch comedy, producing dozens of hilarious, if rather ridiculous, sketches on their website in 2005 and 2006. Audiences seemed to respond well to their unique blend of comedic vulgarity and surreal wit.
The following two years saw production slowed somewhat as the harrowing demands of so-called ‘education’ took their toll on the group.
However the year is 2010 and Politically Erect is back in full force. With a plethora of new sketches of increased quality and a brand spanking new website, PE comedy is now turning its attention to live comedy. Having already performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009 and currently touring the London comedy curcuit, it may not be long before you find yourself face to face with the Political Erection…
